Onion dish # 5

Experiments with natural dye - unbleached cotton rope dyed in red onion skins then stitched into a shallow dish. Overstitched with a pink hue that highlights the variegated tones of the dyed rope.

15cm x 3cm

A note about natural dye - the process of naturally dyeing textiles is an artform in itself. Whilst the dish itself will last forever with good care, I cannot guarantee the colour fastness of the dye. Strong sunlight will likely fade the colour and washing may also lighten the colour.

Handmade to last with unbleached cotton rope. Each one is handmade using a freeform sewing technique.

Best care is to spot wash with warm water and dry in the sun or near a radiator. Cotton soaks up stains but also releases them very easily. Stubborn stains can be removed with a little baking soda paste and warm water. Hot water will shrink the cotton.

Postage & packaging - I use eco friendly packaging materials, sometimes reused. Mail bags are recyclable and tissue paper is acid free. Please reuse packaging wherever possible.
